Eliana Gianolio (University of Torino, Italy)

Eliana Gianolio research interests are based principally on the study of the dynamic and structural properties of paramagnetic metal complexes with potential applications in MRI and Molecular Imaging. Particular attention is devoted to their interactions with biological macromolecular systems either in in vitro cellular and in vivo animal models. In recent years, she's been engaged in the development of new MRI contrast agents endowed with high specificity towards particular target molecules for the detection of tumour cells as well as in the study of new probes which answer is responsive of a particular bio-parameter of interest. Presently, her main research activity concerns the study of phenomena associated with the problem of Gd retention in the body upon repeated administrations of Gd-based Contrast Agents.

Lorenzo Tei (Università del Piemonte Orientale "Amedeo Avogadro", Italy)

Prof. Lorenzo Tei is Full Professor in Organic Chemistry (SSD: CHIM 06) at the Department of Scienze ed Innovazione Tecnologica (DiSIT), Università del Piemonte Orientale.
He is responsible for the Organic Chemistry section of the "Chemprobes" Group of the University of Piemonte Orientale and he is part of the Centre for Molecular Imaging of the University of Torino.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of imaging agents and he has participated in several European initiatives. From January 2015 to February 2017 he spent 15 months as A. Von Humboldt Fellow for Experienced Researchers at Klinikum Rechts der Isar, Technical University Munich with Prof. M. Schwaiger.

His research interests focus on the synthesis of polydentate ligands for metal-based probes for clinical diagnostic and therapy, the synthesis of new chelators for efficient radiometals labelling and of multimodal probes for molecular imaging applications, the design of functionalized nanosystems for application in diagnosis and therapy and NMR relaxometric characterization of paramagnetic agents

Luca Prodi (University of Bologna, Italy)

Luca Prodi is Professor of General Chemistry at the University of Bologna. His research is focused on the synthesis and characterization of luminescent sensors and labels and on the design of biosensors for the detection of pathogens. On the latter theme he coordinates a European project, ECLIPSE (https://eclipse-project.eu/) funded for 3.1 M € within the framework program Horizon Europe. He is the inventor of several patents both in the field of biosensors, also for the detection of SARS-CoV-2, and of synthesis of silica nanoparticles. His research activity is documented by more than 230 articles in international journals (index h = 65).

In 2003 he was one of the founders of a company active in the field of markers for genomics and proteomics and in 2012 of Personal Genomics, a company spin off of the University of Bologna and Verona active in the field of personalized genomics.

He was Director of the Department of Chemistry "Giacomo Ciamician" for three years (2015-2018).

Zsolt Baranyai (Bracco, Italy)

Since the kick-off in 1927, Bracco has grown to become a leading authority in improving people’s lives by shaping the future of prevention and precision imaging.

Main activities:
Contrast agents : The Group's main products are contrast media, medicinal specialities used to improve the diagnostic accuracy of biomedical imaging and the management of patients with diseases of various natures and severity.
Medical technologies :  We design, develop and market advanced systems for the administration of contrast media for cardiovascular angiography and radiology, software for decision support for radiologists, and patient radiation dose monitoring.
Healthcare services : Through the Italian Diagnostic Centre (IDC) we offer analysis, prevention, diagnosis, dentistry, rehabilitation and personalised therapy services, in particular in radiosurgery.
